I just received the following information and I want to pass it along:
Dear Fulbright English Teaching Assistants,
For education in Indonesia, I want to give you my contact information so you can refer students to our Educational Advisors to explore what university opportunities may best fit their interests and needs.
As I said during my presentation on Saturday, the most important criteria are their English levels and their grades – and I’m sure the students you brought to Jakarta are excellent at both so really should be thinking about the possibility of college in the US. So for that I would like to also give you links to resources that you could use if any students would like to explore with you the possibility of going to the US for college: ·
EducationUSA Peterson’s US College Search Engine - www.petersons.com/educationusa/ (great to browse colleges by any criteria, including tuition costs, programs of student and location – as well as search for scholarships for international students!)·
Opportunity Initiative Grant Application - www.aminef.or.id/file/aminef/APP_FORM.DOC (use this to apply for funds to cover the costs of SAT or TOEFL tests, preparation for the tests, college application fees, visa processing fees, etc., so that your students can afford to take the first steps and apply for college in the US)·
AMINEF’s EducationUSA website - http://www.aminef.or.id/eusa.php?site=eusa&m=au-findus (information on our four centers in Indonesia – Jakarta, Medan, Surabaya and Malang, as well as other general information about our services)·
Fulbright’s Community College Program - http://www.aminef.or.id/fulbright.php?site=fulbright&m=ip-pro-sp-communitycollege (for students one year out of high school who would like to go to a two-year Associates program in the US)
