A tragedy happenned in Nanyang Technological University Singapore, last Monday. David Hartanto Widjaja(21), a final year student from Indonesia stabbed his professor Mr. Chan Kap Luk(40). David slit his own wrist in attempt of suicide after the stabbing, then he jumped down from the 5th story building of School of Electrical dan Electronic Engineering leaving him death instaneously. Profesor Chan was severely injured but is now recuperating in National Hospital in Singapore.
David's body had been cremated in Singapore and his ash is being brought home by his family who is still in Singapore. His death left great trauma to friends and families and in the same time brought many symphaties throughout the country.
However, this sad story left one question, what drive David into doing such a horrible crime? According to records, he was a very brilliant student. He was one of the recipient of ASEAN Scholarship and was once a participant in International Mathematic Competition (IMO) in 2005. Shortly saying, he was one of the most brilliant student from Indonesia. The police is still investigating this event to seek the real answer behind this tragedy.

According to what i've heard before..
ReplyDeleteDavid has been stressed out. Because his ASEAN scholarship will be ended this year. At that time, he still working on his final assignment which have been refused for many times(He made a kind of camera which has double lens on it).
That situation had driven him crazy, so he could have done that accident...
So the matter is stress isn't it?

There is an indication that David doesn't try to kill NTU lecturer.
David's parents said that there is no scar in the David hands.
It is contradiction with Singapore Journalists statement.
After that, Singapore Journalists rewrites their statements about David.
He don't kill himself.
There is no evidence that he jumped down.
So, we can just wait the truth.
And I want to add an information,

And then one of the NTU staff died because he had been hung up..
Many mystery connected with this case..
About the "stress out" reason, many people said that NTU students always getting stress everyday and they didn't admit that "stress" was one of the reason
What about the lecturer?
